What do you need to do?

Hair fall - Daily everyone has a hair fall of 100 to 120 hair, which is normal, But if they see excess hair fall suddenly, then it needs to be evaluated

Hair Loss - Due to continued Hair fall, Patient notices the Baldness/Thinning Hair /Shiny scalp

When Either of the above is seen, The following blood tests are to be done to know, what caused it

• Serum Ferritin, Vitamin D, Vitamin A, Vitamin B12, Calcium, Zinc, Magnesium, Selenium, Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) or DHEA-S, Thyroid profile (T3, T4, TSH)

• For Women - Along with the above tests, do FSH, LH, Prolactin and Oestrogen
  

What If any of the Blood investigations is subnormal or abnormal?

They need to visit a Physician or an endocrinologist. If the hormonal investigations of women are subnormal or abnormal, they have to visit a gynecologist and get themselves checked.

What If all of the investigations are Normal?

• The Other Causes of Hair Fall - Stress (work, family, friends), Change of shampoo, Change of bathing water, Sudden Change of Diet, (either weight gain or weight loss), Dandruff, and Dry scalp

Types of Hair Transplant

There are only 2 types of hair transplant, but there are different methods of how these two procedures are done

1. FUT - Follicular Unit Transplantation - A strip of Hair is surgically removed from back of the scalp and implanted in the bald area, and FUE - Follicular Unit Extraction - Individual hair roots are surgically extracted using metal punches from the safe zone on the back of your scalp and they are implanted in the bald area

Advantages

Disadvantages

2. FUE - Follicular Unit Extraction - Individual hair roots are surgically extracted using metal Punches from the safe zone on the back of your scalp and they are implanted in the bald area. There are many different methods of doing FUE, This method involves in 2 or 3 steps

• Step 1 - Extract hair roots from the donor region by using a Manual punch or Electrical Punch or Electrical with a vacuum. The Metal punch tip used can be of Stainless Steel or Gold or Titanium

• Step 2 - Make slits on the bald region, in which the hair roots are inserted, The slits design is your hair design. The slits are made with Stainless Steel blades or Titanium Blades or Sapphire blades or Needles

• Step 3 - Hair Root Insertions into slits - The Hair roots are inserted into the slits using double forceps or implanters

Advantages

Direct Hair Implantation

DHI method is a method where step 2 (slit making) and step 3 (hair root insertion) are combined in one go, ie. after extraction, these roots are loaded into special implanters that are sharp like a needle.
